Ponchatoula mother, boyfriend accused of negligent homicide after 2-year-old dies from kratom
An autopsy report concluded that the child had died from the toxic effects of kratom, officials said. A woman and her boyfriend, Brooke Harter, 31, and Dominick Cenni, 27, are accused of negligent homicide after their two-year-old child died from the toxic effects of kratom, according to Ponchatoula Police Chief Bry Layrisson. The arrests were made after an autopsy report revealed that the child died of Dihydro-7-hydroxy mitragynine and mitragynaine, a substance known as kratom. Both are facing several charges, including negligent homicide, cruelty to juveniles, and criminal abandonment, while Cennis is facing obstruction of justice.
