New Orleans music icon Irma Thomas is also scheduled to appear for the debut of her first biography. Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser said the event is recognized as one of the top 10 one-day book festivals in America and draws up to 20,000 book-lovers. Among the highlights are a full-day of poetry hosted by Louisiana Poet Laureate Gina Ferrara and the festival's popular poetry-to-order feature.
