Fayetteville, AR (KNWA)- The top ranked Arkansas Razorbacks took the first game against No. 8 LSU on Thursday evening at Baum-Walker Stadium, 7-4.

“We just never let them get the momentum back. It seemed like when they took the lead, we caught them and we got ahead of them,” says Dave Van Horn, “And, you know, when Kendall hit the three run homer it gave us a little cushion there and made us feel a little bit better about leaving McEntire out there, instead of going to maybe a closer or a different pitcher. So that was a good win.”

The Hogs pitching staff, lead by Hagen Smith, ended the night with 19 strike outs. Smith picks up his 5th win of the season after 6 innings of work and 10 K’s. Will McEntire went 2.2 innings with 8 K’s.

Arkansas moved to 6-1 in conference play. The Hogs game two against the Tigers Friday at 7pm.
