LSU AgCenter showcases farming technology at Southwest Louisiana Drone Conference
The 2026 Southwest Louisiana Drone Conference, hosted by the LSU AgCenter, hosted at the H. Rouse Caffey Rice Research Station South Farm, showcased agricultural producers across the state to discuss the use of unmanned aircraft in farming operations. Topics covered topics such as plant health monitoring, pest management, spray drone insecticide application, licensing guidelines, Federal Aviation Administration regulations, and training programs offered by the AgCenter. During outdoor flight demonstrations, AgCenter precision agriculture experts Randy Price and Tri Setiyono operated two types of aircraft. They demonstrated a spray drone, which can assist with pesticide distribution, nutrient delivery, seeding, and crop ripeners on sugarcane.
