Louisiana State Library prepares literary paradise for Book Festival
Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser said the Louisiana Book Festival is widely considered one of the top 10 literary celebrations in America. Louisiana's State Library and Capitol Park in downtown Baton Rouge is set to host the annual free Louisiana Book Festival on Oct. 31, featuring over 200 authors, poets, and presenters from across the state. The event is widely recognized as one of the top 10 one-day book festivals in America and draws up to 20,000 book-lovers. Among the highlights are a full day of poetry hosted by Louisiana Poet Laureate Gina Ferrara, the debut of the first biography of New Orleans music icon Irma Thomas, and the presentation of the Louisiana Writer Award to best-selling romance novelist Farrah Rochon.
