This huge wildlife refuge is located in New Orleans. Can these improvements draw more visitors?

The refuge is wholly contained in the city limits of New Orleans, but city residents don’t have easy access. Refuge officials hope to change that. Bayou Sauvage Urban National Wildlife Refuge, a 30,000-acre complex of swamps, bottomland forest and bayous in New Orleans, has been relatively sparsely used. The refuge is located within the city limits of New Orleans and aims to make it more accessible to residents of the city. Key projects include an "interpretive center" for visitors, a newly renovated Ridge Trail for hiking, and a refresh of the Joe Madere Marsh Outlook. Real estate developer John Cummings is donating around 13 acres to the refuge for the interpretive center, a welcome center with exhibits and activities related to the Refuge. The larger, permanent center will be built closer to the highway exit once funds are in place. Despite this, the refuge still needs funds to build the interpretative center.
