Surveillance cameras captured a man fleeing the scene on a bike. The victim is currently listed as stable.

LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (WAFB) - The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office has taken into custody a wanted fugitive for a shooting that happened on Wednesday night, April 3.

According to the sheriff’s office, Mark Dewayne Covington, 35, of Walker, is facing an attempted second-degree murder charge.

The shooting reportedly happened around 11 p.m. on Joe Lee Road in Walker.

Sheriff Jason Ard said deputies found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest at the scene, and he was taken to the hospital for medical care. Surveillance cameras captured a man, identified as Covington, fleeing the scene on a bike, added Ard.

The victim is currently listed as stable, officials confirmed.

This is an ongoing investigation.
