BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Security camera video showed four men with guns attempting to steal a Hyundai parked in a driveway. An alarm eventually sounds, scaring them off. Imagine what Ella Freeman thought when she first checked her camera.

“That’s like watching a crime scene on television. The realities that’s on TV has come right here in my back door. That’s frightening,” said Freeman.

What’s also frightening is the men come back. They make a second attempt to steal the car. The one guy gets back in the car while the other one points the gun back at the house door. The car alarm seems to stop, then it starts again, and they leave again.

“I was in denial at first because, like, is this really happening? Is this really real? I mean, you’re ready to shoot my door, my house, me?” asked Freeman.

Freeman has lived in her North Baton Rouge house for more than 35 years. She wasn’t home the night of the crime. She was at her daughter’s house.

“Four men with guns pointing at my mom’s house. My heart just, it was broken,” said her daughter, Sundi Freeman-Rodgers.

Police believe the group was going after the Hyundai because it’s a target for criminals.

“We know that criminals are targeting those types of vehicles based off the information that’s been given and shared through social media,” said Sgt. L’Jean McKneely with the Baton Rouge Police Department.

McKneely said having an alarm and security cameras not only scares away would be thieves but helps police in their investigation.

Freeman has this to say to the armed men.

“Why is it that important that you had to return several times to my home, my driveway and was ready to kill me. Explain to me why” said Freeman.

The family plans to add more cameras and fencing around the house. No arrests have been made. If you know anything, call Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867.
