The program will provide eligible startups with up to $3 million to develop technologies addressing rural health care access and chronic disease management. The state added 36,000 payroll jobs over the year through September, reaching a record 2.02 million. Construction accounted for 18,800 of the gain, with professional and business services adding 8,000 jobs, private education and health services gaining 7,200. Baton Rouge led metropolitan areas with 13,700 new jobs. Halloween candy sales decreased by 6.7% compared to the same period last year due to high cost of living and high cocoa supply disruptions.
