3D printing business preps Louisiana workforce for next gen manufacturing, SpaceX investment
After nearly 20 years in oil and gas manufacturing, Jace Dugas bet on 3D printing, pivoted during COVID and bootstrapped Additive Innovators, an Acadiana small business in additive manufacturing. Jace Dugas, a former operations manager at a machine and tool shop in New Iberia, has turned his career around to "additive" manufacturing, which includes 3D printing. His company, Additive Innovators, generates over $1 million in annual revenue, sells nearly 100 3D printers a year and counts Exxon, Chevron, the LSU AgCenter and the U.S. military among its clients. Dugas also founded a nonprofit, the Louisiana Advanced Manufacturing Association, promoting 3D print as a solution for industry and training a workforce to use it. His business now operates out of a 20,000-square-foot warehouse in Broussard and sells more than just 3D printer. The industry is ramping up by 11% last year to more than $24 billion, according to consulting firm Wohlers Associates.
