East Baton Rouge is latest Capital Area parish to be placed under burn ban
Iberville Parish is latest Capital Area parish to be placed under burn ban East Baton Rouge Parish is the latest parish in the Capitol Region to issue a burn ban, following dry weather conditions, low soil moisture, elevated fire danger, and recent fire activity. Mayor-President Sid Edwards issued an emergency proclamation suspending authorized outdoor burning throughout East Baton Rouge. The ban, which does not apply to agricultural burning, structured fire pits, and outdoor cooking, is intended to reduce the risk of uncontrolled fires that could threaten residents, homes, property, and emergency response resources. Iberville and West Feliciana parishes also issued burn bans due to dry conditions and increased wildfire risk.
