BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — An event at Southern University Law Center aims to talk about health disparities with community members.
SULC and the Southern University Increasing Clinicians of Diversity Initiative are hosting the DiverseMed: Breaking Barriers in Healthcare event from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, June 14 at the law center.
“Through this event, we want our minority community members to engage with clinicians of diversity and hear them passionately discussing and actively working to confront health disparities,” said Marla Dickerson, vice chancellor for Innovation and Strategic Partnerships and Initiatives for SULC. “As they see clinicians that look like them advocating for their health, it will foster trust and build hope for a healthier future.”
According to organizers, topics include maternal mortality, advancing pregnancy care and the stigma attached to seeking medical care.
The event is free and open to the public. Click here to register.
